Pony grazing on Dartmoor

Things to do

There are plenty of walks that can be started from the doorstep. The Count House is next to an area known as Tamar Trails which was formerly the Great Devon Consul Mine. Now it is an expanse of woodland with 25km of well maintained tracks for walking and cycling. Mining Archaeology can still be seen amongst the trees to remind you of its past. Tamar Trails also offers bike hire, tree surfing and canoe trips.

Alternatively you can take to the open countryside with its deep flower filled Devon lanes and farmland following local footpaths or sections of the Tamar Valley Discovery Trail that starts in Plymouth and makes its way up through the valley to Launceston.

Dartmoor National Park with its miles of breathtakingly beautiful rugged moorland and magnificent granite tours is a short drive away.
